More Useful FW Stuff

Since my first article sparked a lot of interest I decided to write up another. This one deals with useful and otherwise outstanding Fireworks MX extensions and auto-shapes.

A nice little color harmonizer. If you are ever having trouble trying to find complimentary colors, you might find this tool useful. Plus, Kleanthis Economou is just a genious when it comes to writing FW extensions.

This is a great little tool to help you make a product box out of three bitmaps. Run the utility and a new document is created. Double click the large bitmap graphics to edit them as a symbol. Replace them with your own graphics and hit “Done”. The extension will automatically resize and perspective-ize them to make them look like three different angled boxs. There are even premade slices set up so you can quickly export. Neat!
3D Primatives

This is probably the single most incredible FW exention that I have ever seen. It allows for you to create a 3D looking object/animation through a very intuitive interface. You can make cubes, cylinders, spheres, pyramids, etc. with lighting effects in 3D and/or wireframe. The final object consists of a grouped set of individual vector objects. You can mess with this thing for hours. What a treat!

In my opinion, senocular is the very best “Auto Shape” creator on the planet. He makes the most useful and downright amazing shapes ever. I really recommend that you browse through his breadth of FW shapes… you won’t regret it.
