MSN Better Than Google?

For some reason my focus over the past few months has been SEO methods. I tried doing some really specific searches in Google and pages within my site did not show up. So, I made a few adjustments here and there in the meta tags, changed up my title formatting, and resubmitted my site. 6 months go by and still nothing. I saw that Google offered a sitemaps program to help developers get their sites indexed. I signed up made my sitemaps with a TXP plugin and away I went again. 6 months later and still nothing. WTF!!!
So, I tried doing some tests in other search engines like Yahoo and MSN. Surprisingly, the only search engine that picked up my pages and displayed results that were more accurate to what I was looking for was MSN. Weird!
What’s up with Google? Shouldn’t sitemaps take care of sites that are database driven? Wasn’t it designed to do just that? Why do I even need to use sitemaps?
You be the judge on which engine gives the best results. When I do a search for “Craig Erskine” I want my Resume page to show up first (since it has the most references to my name in the content and the title). Try it out and see:
- Craig Erskine search in Google : Oddly enough Google does the worst. The results show my default home page popping up randomly in different ranked spots throughout the day.
- Craig Erskine search in Yahoo : Yahoo is OK but still does not display the corrent page.
- Craig Erskine search in MSN : MSN does what it’s supposed to do and does it consistently.
