New Year, New TXP Features

Posted on: 01.02.2005

First off, happy new year to all and to all a happy new year. My New Years resolution?... 1280×1024 :)

Second, I’ve spent the past week and a half really digging into my Textpattern install. I was determined to get my site to function exactly how I wanted. Well, after a few long nights, I finally reached 100% satisfaction.

Basically all I needed to do was figure out a way to get Category browsing working with zem_rewrite. After switching the order of a few “uri_scheme” variables and adding the wonderful mdm_if_category plugin, all is well in sDS land.

Check it out, you can browse the learn section normally, or you can browse by either the Fireworks (/learn/fireworks/) or CSS (/learn/css/) category.

Notice the url… see how there isn’t that ”/c/{category}” garbage? This is possible thanks to zem_rewrite.

With the discovery of the mdm_if_category plugin, I can now start converting all of my sister sites over to TXP. It’s gonna be so nice to finally get rid of my UGFFGPCHUs. TXP is truly an incredible piece of software. Thank the Lord for the births of Mr. Dean, Mr. Max, and Mr. Matthew.
